Mamanutha Islands

Take a boat to the outer islands for a real taste of paradiso. The Mamanutha Islands are where you will find most of the resorts closest to the mainland of Nadi. Just a thirty-minute boat ride will get you to the famous surf resorts Tavarua and Namoto. Duck dive to Slater at Cloudland or drop in on Rasta on a notorious right-hander at Wilkes passage. Beachcomber Island is the best backpackers island in Fiji, with cheap bungalows, a tiki bar and young, sun-kissed humans lying about. Every night is a party with a sand dance floor and grass hut roofs. Daily activities offered to shake off a hangover include village visits, diving, surfing and snorkeling to your hearts content.

Mololo Lili is not only really fun to say, but also has a small marina where all the seadog yachters hang out. The traditional island bar serves the best cocktails shaken up by Vasiti and Rosie, while you relax on day beds over the lagoon. There are a few resorts of varying prices, a golf course, a pineapple plantation and private villas scattered around the breathtaking mountain ridges.
