Sydney: Lentil as Anything
Get There: 391 King Street, Newtown
Open: 12 – 3pm, 6 – 9pm
The concept started in Melbourne and it’s a great one: you pay what you think the meal is worth or just whatever you can afford. If you’re totally broke you can even work for your food. It might sound like a bit of a hippie-dippy idea, but the NGO has been feeding Melburnians since 2005 and opened their Sydney restaurant in 2014, so they know what they’re doing. All the food is vego and the menu regularly changes, depending on what is being donated and who’s cooking. Generally, it’s delicious and healthy, and as a result of the multicultural vibe, you can expect exotic dishes. They’re open for lunch and dinner, plus weekend brunches. Volunteer inductions are on Fridays at 4pm.
