Hong Kong: Temple Street Night Market
Get There: Catch the MTR (Tuen Wan/Central line) to Jordan Station. Use exit A then follow the signs
Want to haggle your Hong Kong dollars away? Look no further than the Temple Street Night Market! It’s the place to come for all of your genuine fake handbags and copy watches, as well as various souvenirs, toys and Hong Kong branded shirts. Even if you’re not looking to spend, it’s worth hitting up the markets at least once for the atmosphere alone. The narrow path down the stall lanes are crammed with people: locals, ex-pats and tourists alike.
And there’s more to do here than just fill up your suitcase. You can have your fortune read through various different means – by your hands, ears or the ever popular bird picking your fate from a deck of cards – or instead take in a bit of street opera. But more importantly, there’s food everywhere! You have your choice of street vendors (with varying degrees of English so you know what kind of meat you’re biting into) or you can settle for something indoors if that’s more your fancy. And you’re never too far from the heart of Mong Kok and Portland Street, with their walls of neon signs and general potential debauchery.
