Margaret River: Farmers Market
Get There: Lot 272 Bussell Highway (next to the school)
Open: Saturdays 7:30am – 11:30am December til March; 8:00am – 12:pm otherwise
There is a fairly widespread belief in Margaret River that the region will end up one of the last strongholds of human existence thanks to its heavy emphasis on localisation. Whether this is true or not, everyone here sure loves to keep it local, and come Saturdays—rain, hail or shine—the farmers market bustles. In the summer months, up to 55 stalls groan with seasonal produce, and although there isn’t the greatest range on offer in winter, you can still get plenty of scrumptious vegetables and fruit, organic meat (fresh and cured), bakery delights, oils, free range eggs, and handmade cheese. For the most part, it’s even cheaper than the Big Unfriendly Giants Coles and Woolies.
