Want to fill your belly, buy some cheap sunglasses and watch a local Thai man sing karaoke like a boss? Then head to the weekend walking night markets in Krabi Town where locals and tourists alike gather to eat, drink, eat and be merry. Running each weekend from 5-10pm, this is the place to go to fill up on delicious Thai food and shop for cheap and crappy souvenirs.
Make sure your pockets are jangling with Baht and that you don’t eat for at least six hours before you go, as you’ll need an empty stomach. Grab as many Thai delicacies as you can carry and head to the food court space in between the stalls to find a seat. It’s here, in between gulps of Chang and mouthfuls of mango sticky rice, that you can cheer on the locals as they perform traditional Thai dancing or un-traditional awful karaoke.
Finding a table can be near on impossible, so once you are loaded up with bags of animals on sticks, feel free to hover near humans who are almost finished and pounce on their table before they have swallowed their final mouthful of food.
Hobo Tip: For dessert make sure you try the strawberry deep fried ice-cream and coconut ice-cream with chocolate. You may need to do a dairy-induced tactical vomit later that night, but it will be worth it.
