Usually, Sabang is day-trip territory, and as a result, is tranquil even in the peak of high season. Sabang features a kilometre of usually tourist-free white sand lined with hordes of palm trees, most hung with hammocks: ocean vista on your left, tropical forest on your right. To amplify this peacefulness, stay at Dab Dab – bamboo Nipa Huts, each with a personal hammock, across the road from the beach. The restaurant is a shoe-free, bamboo zone with the best meals in the area. There is no point eating anywhere else (unless it’s off the street), as it’s either too expensive or shit. The restaurant owner will also teach you casual Tagalog if you hang around long enough or seem interested.
