Bohol: Nuts Huts
Get There: With some difficulty, but it’s definitely worth the effort.
Via the bus headed to Carmen from Tagbilaran (Dao Terminal): Ask them to either drop you at the Nuts Huts road, or an hour in, keep an eye out for the sign on the left hand side of the road just after you pass through Loboc.
On a jeepeny from the Tagbilaran Plaza/ Tagbilaran Jeepeny Terminal: Travel to Loboc. In Loboc, convince the men with motorbikes hanging in the plaza to drop you off at Nuts Huts. If you arrive after dark, this is the better/only option.
Cost: 300PHP for a deb in a dorm (7AUD)
Free Breaky: No, but the muesli at the restaurant is orgasmic
Free Wifi: No (none at all)
Secluded and sensual, Nuts Huts is a jungle refuge on Bohol, central to all potential sightseeing activities without having to stay in the city of Tagbilaran. On the banks of Loboc river, you can watch the river coast by from the balcony restaurant, enjoy a San Miguel and let the slow current sooth your soul: it is impossible to leave Nuts Huts without feeling relaxed. From Loboc you have easy access to the Tarsier Sanctuary, the Chocolate Hills (boob mountains), a butterfly zoo, motorbike rental and a few small (nothing to write home about) caves. You should try and keep your tab up to date, there are no ATMs anywhere on the island but Tagbilaran (an hour away) and in true Filipino style, Nuts will only take cash.
