Bash and Crash is one of the cheapest hostels in La Paz with a super central location. Given that you are saving a few dollars, things are pretty basic; however, you have access to everything you need: a bar, a comfortable bed, a shower and internet (not to mention the bonus of free food), making it fantastic value for money. One huge plus is access to a bunch of board games to mix up your drinking games if you’re sick of getting stuck with Kings Cup. They also have a Nintendo with Super Mario Kart and a TV, which, every time I’ve walked past, is playing Friends.
The staff are super helpful and friendly; they have a travel desk that can help with booking any tours for you from La Paz and might even chuck you a sneaky early check in if the bed is available, which – if you get in at 6am off a bus from Uyuni like I did – is almost as good as scoring a free pack of Oreos on your bus. It’s not as much of a party hostel as perhaps some others, but the benefit of sleep is always good and there is still the bar to score a few cheap drinks!
