The last thing you want to experience during your stay in New York City are kids from Queens or Long Island fist pumping on the dance floor and ladies with overly short skirts and unreasonably high heels vomiting right in front. Avoid the nonsense: head towards Bushwick to Bossa Nova Civil Club.
It’s sketchy, a little grimy, and likely that the dude next to you at the bar will creep you out. But take it into consideration that he’s probably on a trip to the moon and back – which only makes things more fun. You’ll probably end up on the journey with him soon enough. The finest variety of electronic jams, an abundance of multicolored laser lights and sweaty bodies all around make this one of the best dance spots in New York right now.
There is no cover, because none of us can afford a cover charge. Drinks are reasonably priced at $6 for a beer and $9 for a cocktail, but I strongly encourage bringing a flask and filling up your empty glass without help from the bar. If you could fit a couple of beer cans in your pockets, than do that too. You could never have too much booze, ever.
