Bangkok: Sky Bar
Address: 1055 State Tower, Silom Rd, Bangkok 10500, Thailand
Open: 6am – 1am every day
The coolest thing about the open-air rooftop bar at Lebua Hotel is that it’s the place of the infamous breakfast scene with everyone’s favourite Chinese lesbian in the Hangover II: Mr Chow. But leaving aside its brush with fame, Sky Bar’s ambience, décor and views take your breath away, and watching the sun go down over the city of squalor with a cocktail in hand from the 63rd floor is one of the coolest things you can do in Bangkok. There’s a fairly strict smart casual dresscode (the website specifically bans wearing slippers, for example), so try to scrounge up something half decent so you at least look like you can afford to be there. The rooftop also boasts a restaurant – Sirocco – where sugar daddies wine and dine women a quarter of their age, but with entrees starting at around 2000 baht, the only way you’ll ever be stepping foot inside is if you get a job as a waitress. Keep in mind that the security guards are really iffy about where you can and can’t take photos – something about ruining the experience for the diners blah blah blah.
